Fix inconsistent capitalization of a tag
I want one spelling of a tag instead of three — any capitalization I choose
Applies your preferred spelling and removes every other capitalization of the same tag.
Why: Shopify treats VIP, Vip and vip as three different tags, so a segment built on one silently misses the customers carrying another — and the count looks plausible enough that nobody questions it. You do not need to know which spellings your store has: this matches them all and leaves only the one you name.
Keep one tag from a family at a time
I want a customer to carry only ONE of a set of tags, never two at once
Applies one tag and clears every other tag in the same family, so a customer only ever has one.
Why: Two rules that each apply a tag will apply both, so a customer matching your wholesale rule and your VIP rule carries both — and a segment built on one quietly includes the wrong people. Naming a family makes each rule clear the others, so one tag survives however many rules match. Adopt this once per tag; adding another later changes nothing you already have. For ordered spend tiers use "Spend tier" instead.
Convert a customer tag to lowercase
I want my customer tags in lowercase, not a mix of upper and lower case
Applies the lowercase spelling of a tag and removes every upper- or mixed-case version.
Why: Lowercase is the usual convention because it is the one nobody has to remember. Shopify treats VIP, Vip and vip as three different tags, so a segment built on one quietly misses the customers carrying another — and the count looks believable, which is why the split survives. You do not need to know which capitalization your store accumulated: type the tag however you have it and the lowercase spelling is the one left standing.

Whichever convention you pick, the point is having ONE: Shopify treats each capitalization as a separate tag, so a mixed vocabulary splits every segment and collection built on it.
Retire a customer tag you no longer use

Removes the named tag, in any capitalization, from customers who carry it.
Why: Last year’s campaign tag, a migration marker, a loyalty tier you retired. They clutter every tag picker your team uses and quietly widen segments that were written to exclude them. Removing them by hand means opening customers one at a time.
Take a tag off customers who have gone quiet
I want my "active" tag to come off people who stopped buying
Removes the tag you name from customers who have not ordered in N days.
Why: An "active" or "VIP" tag that nobody retires slowly stops meaning anything — after two years everyone is a VIP. This is the expiry a durable tag otherwise lacks, and because removal reaches tags this app never applied, it works on the ones you or another app set by hand.
Combine two customer tags into one
I want two overlapping tags replaced by a single clearer one
Customers carrying BOTH tags get a new tag, and lose the two it replaces.
Why: Tags accumulate. After a year of campaigns and tiers you have "promo" and "high-spender" on the same people and no single tag that means what you actually act on. This replaces the pair with one name — so your segments, flows and discounts can read one tag instead of composing two — and because it keeps running, anyone who later earns both is renamed automatically.

Why: The product-side twin of combining customer tags, and it exists for the same reason every other cleanup preset here has a product version. Automated collections and storefront filters are built on product tags, so a pair that should be one name quietly splits a collection in two.

Removes the named tag, in any capitalization, from products of the types you choose.
Why: Every unused product tag is a storefront URL search engines may have indexed and a row in every tag picker your team scrolls past. Pruning after a campaign ends is the maintenance nobody schedules, because doing it by hand across a catalog is not realistic.
