Shopify workflows that need two apps
Some things no single app can do, because the two halves run in genuinely different places — one on your store as the catalogue changes, the other inside checkout with milliseconds and no lookups. Each recipe below is one of those, start to finish.
Every recipe here has the same shape: one app writes something down, and another acts on it somewhere the first app cannot reach. The thing written down — usually a tag — is the interface.
That join is also where these go wrong, so each recipe says which way its failure points. Some fail safely and silently, and you have to go looking; others block a real customer from paying you, and you will hear about it. The tests to run are different in each case, and every recipe names them.

Tag Your VIP Customers, Then Give Them a Shipping Option Nobody Else Sees
Auto-tag repeat customers as VIP, then hide your express shipping option from everyone who isn't one — one rule writes the tag, another reads it at checkout.
The apps these recipes use
Three apps, each doing one thing properly. Every recipe on this page combines two of them, and every one has a free plan.
