No same-day delivery after a cutoff time
I want to stop offering same-day delivery once my courier deadline has passed
Offer same-day (or express) delivery up to a daily cutoff, then hide it for the rest of the day.
Why: A courier that collects at 2pm cannot fulfill a same-day order placed at 4pm, but Shopify has no way to remove a delivery option by time of day. This offers the option until your cutoff, hides it for the rest of the day in your store timezone, and brings it back the next morning.
No short-lead delivery on days you do not produce
I want to stop offering same-day delivery on the days my kitchen is closed
Hide same-day or express delivery on the weekdays your bakery or custom-order kitchen does not produce, and offer it again after.
Why: A bakery closed to custom orders on Sundays still shows the same-day rate on a Sunday, because Shopify has no way to remove a delivery option by weekday. The daily cutoff preset answers "too late today"; this answers "not today at all". The merchant lists the days they do not produce, and the option disappears for the whole of each one, in the store timezone.
No short-lead delivery during a seasonal peak
I want to turn off same-day delivery over Valentine’s and Mother’s Day
Hide same-day or express delivery over a peak like Christmas, and bring it back automatically afterwards.
Why: The peaks are known a year ahead — Valentine’s, Mother’s Day, Christmas — and they are exactly when a rush promise breaks. Merchants handle it by deleting the rate and remembering to re-add it. That is a manual step at the busiest moment of their year, and the reason the option is sometimes missing in March. Set the dates once and it restores itself.
