Works with Rules2Tag — Ruleproof presets
Checkout rules keyed on a customer or product tag — and Rules2Tag can apply that tag for you, so the rule covers new customers and products without anyone tagging by hand.
Each of these is a ready-made rule you can adopt in one click inside Ruleproof, then change however you like. Nothing runs until you say so, and every rule can be previewed against your own store first.

Restrict regulated products by region
I want to stop restricted products going to certain states
Block checkout when alcohol, vape or another restricted item is shipping somewhere you cannot send it.
Why: Alcohol, hemp, vape and live plants are legal to sell but not everywhere you can ship. Shopify's native checkout rules validate address FORMAT only — they have no per-product dimension, so this cannot be expressed natively at all.
Together: Rules2Tag can apply the product tag this rule keys on automatically — its age-restricted presets tag by product type, vendor or title — so nothing is tagged by hand.
Keep incompatible items in separate orders
I want to stop items that cannot travel together being bought together
Block a cart that mixes two groups of products that cannot ship together.
Why: Frozen with ambient, hazmat with air freight, fragile with oversized — mixing them means either a ruined delivery or a manual split. Shopify cannot split an order by fulfillment type outside Plus, so the practical fix is to stop the cart and explain why.
Together: Rules2Tag can keep the shipping-class tags current — by vendor, type or title — so this rule never depends on someone remembering to tag a new product.
Members-only products
I want to sell certain products to members only
Require a signed-in customer with the right tag before certain products can be bought.
Why: Storefront "lock" apps hide prices and buttons, but the checkout is still reachable — a 921-review B2B lock app has customers reporting "customer still able to purchase even lock is on". Enforcing at checkout is the backstop those apps structurally cannot provide. Note that it needs customer tags in the runtime input: without them the rule cannot evaluate, and it lets the order through rather than guess.
Together: Rules2Tag can tag members automatically — by order count, spend or subscription — so the customer tag this rule checks never needs applying by hand.
No slow shipping for tagged products
I want to hide a shipping option when a tagged product is in the cart
Hide a shipping option when the cart holds a product tagged perishable, fragile, hazmat or oversized. Tag a new product and it is covered.
Why: Some products cannot travel on every rate: frozen food spoils, batteries cannot fly, a mattress will not go by parcel courier. Shopify offers every rate to every cart, so the wrong one is always there to be chosen. Keying the rule on a TAG rather than a list of products means the next item you add is covered the moment you tag it. A pasted list of ids quietly stops covering your catalog the first time you forget it.
Together: Rules2Tag can apply the product tag this rule watches — by type, vendor or title — so newly added products are covered without a manual step.
Next-day shipping only for perishable products
I want only fast shipping offered when a perishable or fragile product is in the cart
Leave only the fast rates you name when the cart holds a product tagged perishable, frozen or fresh. Slower options disappear, including new ones.
Why: Frozen food, cut flowers and chilled goods do not survive a slow courier, and Shopify offers every rate to every cart. Naming the fast option that STAYS is safer than listing the slow ones to hide. A rule that lists what to hide is incomplete the day you add another economy rate, and nothing tells you. Preview it first: an allow-list is a strong instrument, and the preview shows exactly what a buyer is left with.
Together: Rules2Tag can tag perishable products automatically by type or vendor, so this rule covers new stock the moment it is added.
